Is Eating and Drinking At The Same Time Good For Health?

The Issue of Eating And Drinking....

I was discussing about eating and drinking at the same time with my best friend the other day. The issue was about how effective digestion when we eat and drink at the same time.

I remember I read an article about how a Great Grandpa of 95 years old who is still able to live like a 60 years old lifestyle. One of his top secrets was not to drink any fluid immediately after meal. He said that it has kept him healthy that way. Come to think of it, he is right. How often do we drink immediately or drink while we eat?

The explanation I got from most medical practitioners are that our digestive system works the best with less liquid in the stomach. Our 'stomach juice' (hydrochloric acid) reacts with the food we eat. It then passes through our small intestine and finally to the large intestine which we sometimes call it colon. The process is actually much more complex that what we discuss here.

In order for our digestion system to function well, we need to reduce the liquid content in our stomach. The food we eat will broken down easier and faster. We will have less problem with the digestion and the system digestive system will function perfectly. There will be less hydrochloric acid produced. Less work for your stomach which in turn your organ will last longer and healthier.

Old Habits Die Hard

What About Habits?

I have a smoker friend name Alan age 43. Very much overweight.

He had a heart attack 4 yrs back and was 'lucky' to get medical attention on time. The medical team done a balloon job on 2 of his arteries. His medical cost was covered by his medical policy and was compensated with the sum covered.

After that he quit smoking for 3 months but got back to his old habits of smoking again. "Old habits die hard". True enough weeks and months went by. Alan went back to his old habits.

He wanted to purchase a medical policy during the 'incubation period' but his Insurance Agent advise him to stop smoking, reduce weight and exercise frequently instead. The agent told him that there is no way his company would accept his policy application due to the fact of his medical history.

The Agent told Alan, "Your kids needs your love, not your money".

He did not bother to the Agent's advise and proceed to live on the old habits.

Last week I had a call from a friend. "Alan is now in Hospital for observation"
"Why?", I asked
"Chest Pain again", murmured my friend.

His old 'attack' returned the second time, but this time with a vengeance. Alan told me that this time the pain was more severe than the last. I told him that he has no choice but to seriously consider quiting the old habits. He ain't gonna be so lucky to survive the next or next attack if it ever occur again.

The morale I get from this real story is that if he is not treasuring his life where he should be then I think he should seriously consider the Agent's advise. In this scenario, Alan is in the Pilot seat to his health condition and he got to make a concrete Will to see himself passing the the age of 60's, 70's or even 80's.

Alan, if you happen to see this post, I hope you will consider your action thoroughly and to think of your 2 wonderful kids and your wife back home waiting for you every single day.

May God Bless You.

Don't Get Your Knickers In A Knot

Laughter Is The Best Medicine

Happy Phrase?

Today I met a couple from Australia at a seminar in Kuala Lumpur. The husband's name is Graham and the wife's name is Susan. The are the most wonderful couple I met today which make my day.

In one part of the conversation, Graham was relating his holiday trip to Phuket, Thailand. He was quite funny in a way when he described how he swam round an island off Phuket. He emerged out like being scalped by a shark around his body without realizing it when he 'surf' through the corals. Susan added that she thought Graham was doing a stunt at the Hollywood!

"I thought I needed 911 for assistance", giggled Graham. "It landed me the good memories and the scar for life", he added.

He did make my morning Great. How about you?

Small Molecule Breakthrough

Small Molecule: DCA offers hope to Cancer Sufferers

A recent breakthrough in nanotechnology molecule technology has promising results for cancer sufferers. According to a report by University of Alberta, the molecule acts as a regression agent towards cancer cells.

The best part of this DCA is that it does not have any side effects on non cancerous and normal tissues. This contradicts the conventional kind of treatment where chemo therapies and radio therapies are killing all the good and bad cells in our body. More....

Stroke Identification

You Will Never Know What The Symptoms Like Until........

My friend sent this to me and encouraged me to post it and spread the word. I agree. If everyone can remember something this simple, we could save some folks.

Seriously..

Please read on.........During a BBQ, Ling Ling stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics) and just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes.

They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food - while she appeared a bit shaken up, Ling Ling went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening.

Ling Ling's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00pm, Ling Ling passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ling Ling would still be around today.
Some stroke victims don't die.

They end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead.

It only takes a minute to read this... A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally.

He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.

..........................RECOGNIZING A STROKE.

Thank God for the sense to remember the "3" steps, STR ..... Read and Learn! Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.

Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:

S * Ask the individual to SMILE.

T * Ask the person to TALK to SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently) ( i.e. ... It is sunny out today)

R * Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS . NOTE: Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out their tongue. If the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke..

If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call for emergency immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

A cardiologist says if everyone who read this and sends it to 10 people, you can bet that at least one life will be saved!

The Power of Words and Thoughts To Actions

"With our thoughts, we make our world" -Gautama Buddha

"We are what we behold" -William Blake

"Energy follows thought" -Annie Besant

"We are more than 99.99% similar in genetic but it is the Thoughts and Words that differentiate us between noble, successes and kindness" -Anonymous

Human evolved for the past tens of thousands of years. As along we progress, we notice the significant changes in thoughts of the next generation.

Looking at how we progress since the last 100 years, we have to acknowledge the vast improvement on how we think. There is no denial the physical wealth created during this era has got a lot to do with the clever uses of words and thoughts.

With the improvement of printing and communications, we were able to propel ourselves into a high speed 'expedition'. Thoughts are transferred in a matter of split of a second. Fresh information is nothing new and astonished about. But it wasn't the the case before Internet was available.

We have what it takes for many to propel themselves into what they wish with the right tools. Provided with the right thoughts and the thoughts being transform into the right words.

Nevertheless, our human evolution will carry on as usual with these tools available to help us generate better life. The basic of life continued to be dominated by the words we use to express and the way we think individually will bring ourselves to a higher level.

Colloidal Minerals And It's Truth

My Review On Colloidal Mineral

There was this skepticism on the use of Colloidal Minerals as our supplement. Although there were no extensive research on the effectiveness but on my personal experience, it does help to boost up my energy level to a certain degree.

During my younger years, my exposure to hard days of work did take a toll on my physique. I was completely drained off at the end of each day. My pharmacist recommended me this supplement. I tried it. I felt energize and tiredness was off my mind. It did great for my body.

I was made to understand the current status of our cultivated land has been exposed to erosion. Our top soil which used to be nutrients rich has now been over stressed and over extracted. The way our farmers replant the same crop on the same land ripped the same nutrients year in and year out. Since most of our food grains and vegetables derive their minerals from the top soil, we are then deprived from the full mineral spectrum from the food we eat.

Our body could produce vitamins but not minerals. We could produce our own vitamin D by exposing ourselves to sunlight. But we can't produce a single strand of mineral. Learn more

Another interesting issue to note on the difference between ionic and colloidal minerals here....

Health Check For Ourselves And For Our Neighbours Too

Can We Control The Air Emitted From Our Neighbour?

I am living in Penang, Malaysia, part of South East Asia. We had a problem for half part of the year.........when we have dry season in our neighbour.....Indonesia.

It is a grieving problem whenever our neighbours had their harvest done, they practice a conventional way of clearing their land. Burning it. The effects has been tremendously bad and the situation gets worst when the wind direction shift towards us.

Our affected countries' leaders had their views forwarded to our Indonesia neighbour on numerous occasion. read related story here....

We are at mercy cause we can't do much. The land they burnt belongs to them.

But it sound strange to me when I hear the news today about the controversy Walt Disney had with the neighbours and the Hong Kong Government 'sidelines' those affected.

I think various view should be sought before any long term effects on health from the air pollution created by the fireworks. continue here....

My Admiration To A Charitable Friend

This Is What I Mean Charity- Without Defining Race, Colour, Religion and Reward

I have known this friend for more than a year. Penny is in her forties and have a lovely family. She is committed to her family and children needs. Yet she could find the extra energy and time to fulfill her social obligation.

She is a Reiki Level III practitioner and a Christian. She offered her Reiki service to cancer patients in Mount Miriam Hospital in Penang. For free of course. And it doesn't end here.

She is the pioneer to set up a Reiki Healing Centre in one of the Buddhist Temple: The Mahindarama Temple. Her beliefs in Christianity did not stop her from performing charity when she is needed.

This short but real story shows me the true Charitable person whom I admire in and around me. I would like to wish her long life and health for her continuous deeds.....

What Is The Meaning Of Charity?

My Thoughts On Charity...

- Great man leaves a legacy- by doing something beneficial to human mankind. We remember then because they have contributed to the man survival, bringing human species to a next level.

- There is a similarity for Great Man- Bill Gates and Warren Buffet who declare to donate most of their fortune to charity. They are willing to part their wealth to help.

- The 'Organ Pledgers'- those who are alive who pledge to donate their useful organ in the event when they pass over unexpectedly. They are the heroes.

- The NGOs' who fight for human rights, environment, animals,.... They champion their goals without expecting much.

- The parents who give unconditionally to their children. This is the basic of human and most of the living creature.

For me, I feel blessed when I am able to give while I am able. Let's give this a thought..... There's greatness in everyone of us. Let's bring it out and expand it to all...

Charity Meaning....

How Can Someone Be So Mean And Unthoughtful?

I am living in an apartment. Someone had an idea to bring forward a recycling bin at one of the corners at our apartment lobby.

The bin belongs to a Buddhist Foundation Tzu Chi. The Foundation involved in many kinds of charity for the needy. They include dialysis centre, natural disaster help centre, running of schools, endless.........

It was a very Nobel indeed to have it done cause otherwise our recyclable waste would have gone unseparated.

We have about 100 household in our apartment block. Almost all of us contributed some recyclable waste to the bin. But out of the many, some could have mistaken it as a rubbish bin and contributed rubbish instead. In the end, some residents complaint about the stench. They wanted to abandon the project. Can't they think of how to resolve the human problem instead of scrapping the bin?

I am saddened by the way my neighbours handle the situation. In my thoughts.......

1) Why can't the resident pay a single thoughts to the needy people who is waiting for help at the end of the line.

2) Don't they have the feeling for the person who is waiting for help at the hospital bed, the one who are affected by the natural disaster, the one who needs scholarship to further studies?

3) What is our work to get the action to separate rubbish and recyclable item? Negligible!

4) I feel blessed when we are able to give. Especially to charity. It shows we are of capable, healthy, have enough and able.

5) Don't we feel happier to give than to receive?

6) How do we educate our children? To be a giver, receiver or the by stander? And endless......

How can we be so unthoughtful in this society when we think about giving back to those who are in need?

Is that difficult to do? Being thoughtful?

Study On The Mobile Phone Side Effects

Mobile Phone Risks 'Need Further Study'.

Professor Challis who is a radiation expert is calling for a full scale study on the effects of mobile phone. According to him, the effects can be traceable by conducting a survey on a 200,000 populations.

Analog mobile phones models were first introduced in the early eighties. Since then many NGOs' and Government Health Department has shown great interest in the effects. But those study conducted was way too early to detect any significant results.

The Professor pressed for the comprehensive study by relating the effects of the Hiroshima Atomic Bomb and the asbestos issue (which was known after many years). Study is still pending approval grant from the British Government. continue here....

Please Check Your Email Before Forwarding

Forward An Untrue Statement May Cause More Harm Than Good

Yes, I personally came across this mail in my mailbox this morning. It sounded very urgent and important and needed to be forwarded to all my list. The content read like this:

" A 10 year old boy, had eaten pineapple?about 15 days back, and fell sick, from the day he had eaten. Later when he had his Health check done... doctors diagnosed that he had AIDS.

His parents couldn't believe it...Then the entire family under went a Checkup... none of them suffered from Aids. So the doctors checked again with the boy if he had eaten out...The boy said "yes". He had pineapple that evening.

Immediately a group from Mallya hospital went to the pineapple vendor to check. They found the pineapple seller had a cut on his finger while cutting the pineapple , his blood had spread into
the fruit.

When they had his blood checked...the guy was suffering from AIDS......but he himself was NOT aware.Unfortunately the boy is suffering from it now.

Please take care while u eat on the road side and pls fwd this mail to your dear one."

Somehow I found the content was unconvincing and unambiguous. Then I made a search. To my surprise, I found the truth about it. Continue here....

The moral of the story is to check the authentically of the story before forward it out to your list.

Omega 3, 6 and 9

Know The Difference, Benefits and How Much Needed

We may have heard of the normal Omega 3 which has been much talked about. It has been associated with a healthy heart, blood pressure, good eye sight, ........ And Omega 6 as the normal cooking oil from palm based or soy based. Omega 9 is from olives and olive oil. Continue here for the difference....

A proper balance intake of the 3 types of Omega Oil is important to our health. Neither is to be neglected for a healthy lifestyle. Since each group contribute different functions to our body system, we need all of them in moderation and proportion.

Read more on Omega 3 for it uses, benefits, daily requirement, proportions,........ here

For Omega 6, continue here....

And Omega 9 here....

There is no doubt about the current situation where we consume more of the Omega 6 than the rest of the Omega 3 and 9. With this trend going, our health will be affected.

And as for Ladies who are taking Evening Primrose Oil, Beware! You might be overdosed. The normal cooking oil is more than enough of Omega 6!

From the Nutritionist point of view, we are lack of Omega 3 and Omega 9 in general. Therefore, we need to consume more of these 2 essential oil to balance up our consumption.

Another Way To Survive A Heart Attack....

Picking The Fingers?

I heard from a friend about another way to survive a heart attack and stroke.

When someone is under attack by stroke or heart attack, normally it is due to increased in blood pressure. In that instance, use a needle to prick the end of the victim's fingers. It may be able to release some pressure from the arteries.

Theoretically it sounds logical. It may or may not work! It has yet to be proven and I can't find any write up at the moment. I will update one I find it. Read further on Heart Attack prevention.

Early Action To Heart Attack May Prove To Be Effective

Coughing Out?

Can coughing really help to alleviate the worst scenario? Check this out here... and here....

Considering the chances of being alone and the nearest and fastest medical help is available, there is no harm trying. All you need to do is to cough out as loud as possible.

Scientifically, the cough is able to generate some extra pressure in our blood vessel to push through any blockages in our blood system. Sounds right isn't it?

"Coughing hard at the first signs of a heart attack could save a patient's life, researchers claim. Polish doctors said the pumping action caused by a deep cough would cause blood to be pushed through the body and to the brain." Continue....

Raising A Child Is Getting More Challenging Now Than Before.

My Salt Experience

To Me Salt Is A Miracle

I am a cyclist. In fact a mountain biker. I like the thrill of it. And falling is part of the game. Although I don't like falling but sometimes it is inevitable.

Bruises are common. I never visit any clinics for the small injury. Salt was my options for treatment. Believe me. They really work but need to bear the pain for the first of every time.

This is how I do it when I have bruises. First, clean the wound with soap and water. Then get 2 tablespoon of table salt and mix with about 1 litre of filtered water. Then rinse on the affected bruise slowly. Ouchhhhhhh! It hurts for the first time. Then dry it up with cotton wool completely. I would cover it up with a thin gauze (for protection).

Repeat the process after every bath time. Within very soon, my wound would heal naturally without any medication. Usually a complete heal will take about 2 weeks. One word of cautious is to observe the cause of the wound. If the causes are from an infected like rust metals, it is safer to have an ATT injection.

Iodine Salt

Deficiency In Iodine Salt Has major Impact On Growth

There is another kind of salt: Iodine Salt. I found out about it from my pharmacist a couple of years back. I was briefed on the uses to prevent thyroid and since I have been using it sparingly in our food preparation. It looks like the normal granulated white salt but the properties are different. Check here....

There seems to be a great deal of problem with those who are lack from it. The population from North West China who had suffered from goitre and growth deficiency were the most obvious. The report says: "The main source of water in land-locked Xinjiang is glaciers. With very low iodine content in the soil and water, the region, especially southern Xinjiang, used to be plagued by the "big-necked disease" or cretin, caused by iodine deficiency disorder (IDD).
Of a population of 19 million in the 1980s, 1.28 million suffered goiter, with an accumulative 12,000 victims of cretin, most in the Tarim Basin, according to Wang Shaohua, deputy director of the regional health bureau." Continue here....

More to it is the miracle it could bring to Chernobyl victims. "Iodized salt could have significantly lowered the numbers of exposed children who developed thyroid cancer" Keep reading here....

The Secret Of Epsom Salt

Epsom Salt

I found out about this wonderful salt from a friend who happened to have survived a heart attack. We were talking about his experience of the last heart attack which occurred a couple years back.

Then I came to notice his vast experience in health knowledge. He is very much overweight. A smoker although he had tried to stop many times. We discussed many issues and one of them to me is about 'gall bladder stone' and 'kidney stone'. He had the understanding of using Epsom Salt to 'dissolve' the stone's presence in our organ.

I was amazed and I made a search on this particular subject. I am astonish with the findings. It magnesium and properties include being a fertilizer, cosmetics and medicinal value, stress relieve therapy and food taste enhancer, health benefits, and the Epsom Salt applications.

And do you know you can grow Epsom Salt Crystal?

Salt: How Much Is Enough?

We Can't Live Without It But We Don't Need Too Much

Salt were worth as much as gold Centuries ago. During the period, people went to war for it. Now, we are over supply and become a health problem for some.

In today's flood of processed food, we are over consuming it. We have this problem of high blood pressure, heart failure, kidney failure and liver failure more than our grandfathers. Why?

The problem lies in the urban lifestyles. We consume more processed food than before. And the problem lies from the prepared food. We are unable to access the amount of sodium from the food we take. How much do we need a day?

Alternatively, we could save our health by simply making the choice of food we desire and cook our meal without sodium. We can have it as tasty as we want by making a healthy substitution. Continue here...

Cloned Product Allowed Now?

The FDA Close To Accepting On Cloned Product Now?

Check this report by the FDA.

When the issue of cloning surfaced during the last couple of years ago, there were lots of disapprovement from the Authorities. The FDA were the first to react. Now it seems the reverse. They seem to approve.

I have no idea what it seems to be and I am in no position point of view to suggest any objection but any Tom, Dick and Harry would know the consequences of the matter.

We human being survived on this Planet due to our immune system and the right conditions of all aspect of life to our species. We need each other species to survive in their natural habitat.

Just like the sea corals which need the right combination of temperature, sun light, salinity, pH level and etc....... The corals will die if any of the factor changes . Like wise in our forest. Even a termite play an important role in the ecology. They have been there millions of years. Take them away and the whole ecology system collapse. They have their role to play.

When there is a genetic change of live stock that directly feed the human, the consequences will be greatly altered. We can't take the change in a matter of a few years. Our DNA has not changed since the last 10,000years. And now we need to adapt to a new kind of food? Can WE?

We have seen the effects when we breed our chickens. We used to raise them in 90 days during our grandmother's time and now we need only 25 days to make them as big for the dinner table. The effects on human for now? The children now we see mature sooner than they should be. In fact some of the 16 years old look like 22! Why? Because of the food we eat.

We don't want any surprise like that for our future generations. We don't need another booster to make us grow faster and older. For every evolution in food chain, there must be some unknown side effects in our DNA. We will not find out the effects until many years to come. But when we do, it's too late.

Who is to blame then?
